A day of fun, laughter and community entertainment.

Not all events involve dog patting sessions, essential oils and a workout with former The Block’s Karstan. Last weekend, locals of Newcastle descended on the vibrant shopping centre for Pause with Junction Fair, an event that brought the wider community together with activities for every age and interest. The one-day event included a 12 Round Fitness workout with ex Block contestant Karstan, a pop-up dog patting session, and an essential oils workshop by Savant Apothecary. We recap what happened on the day, who attended and how everything went down so you can follow along and relive every moment!

12 Rounds Fitness

There is nothing sweeter than seeing a husband/wife team in action. Karstan, from The Block, completed a full 12-round boxing and HIIT circuit at 12 Rounds Fitness wearing a 20kg weighted vest to mimic how it would feel to carry the weight of a baby at 9 months, much like his now pregnant partner Maxine.

Karstan proves that just about anyone can complete a 12 Rounds workout no matter what your fitness level, age or previous training history.

Post workout acai bowls were in order for the expecting couple at Buzz Junction right across from 12 Rounds Fitness. Customised order forms were handed out to each person who completed a 12 Rounds Fitness workout for an acai bowl with toppings and preferences of their own choosing. Every acai bowl is the chance to have an Instagram moment to show the world how healthy you are right?

Dog Patting

Dogs are not our whole life, but they sure do make our lives whole! Visitors in the centre were able to enjoy a whole hour of dog patting with a special visit from the Delta Society therapy dogs. Delta Society’s world leading therapy dog teams visit hospitals, aged care facilities, and schools, and we were lucky enough to have them come in to entertain kids, parents and the elderly alike at Junction Fair.

Savant Apothecary

Inhale your favourite essential oil, exhale your inner turmoil. To bring the Pause event to a close, we were joined by Kylie, founder of Savant Apothecary and Maxine from The Block to talk about all things essential oils and making time for yourself. Flowers donned every shelf and corner of the room along with beautifully lit candles for an afternoon of female bonding and relaxation. The key theme of the workshop centered around the use of essential oils whilst pregnant and creating a skin-friendly routine that suits even the busiest of schedules.

A live facial demonstration was performed by Kylie using one of her best-selling milk cleansers to show attendees how to use her products on the skin whilst answering any and all questions from the crowd.

All guests walked away armed with a better understanding of using essential oils in everyday life along with a goodie bag filled with a curated selection of Savant Apothecary products, a mug from Easy Living Footwear, single flowers from Still Life Florist, decadent chocolate from Cocoa Nib and a jar of kombucha from Scoop Wholefoods.
